ENYSLMA is a
professional organization encompassing more than 150 school library
media specialists throughout Eastern New York (Albany, Schoharie,
Schenectady, Saratoga, Washington, Warren, Hamilton, Essex,
Franklin, Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene counties). We are one of
eight regional affiliates that make up the School Library Media
Section (SLMS) of the New York Library Association (NYLA).
Our mission is to
advocate for and promote the interests of the school library media
specialist in our area so that they can enable their students to
become independent learners and avid readers. To accomplish this
mission, we assist and encourage our members through an active
network of dedicated professionals. We offer mentoring services to
new LMS and students pursuing a degree in library school. We
actively lobby for increased support of school library media
programs and school library systems. We offer three programs
annually that range from best practices, national issues or trends
and author speakers.
However, an
organization is only as strong as its members. We invite you to
talk to us, attend a program and become involved. If you are already
a member, we invite you to renew your membership. If you are just
learning about us for the first time, we invite you to join. A
